The Turkish grid operator TEIAS reported that by the first four months of 2021, about 398 MWac of new Electric Solar Panel photovoltaic systems will be integrated into the Turkish grid.

In April alone, approximately 101.4 MW of new power generation was recorded, bringing Turkey’s cumulative solar installed capacity to 7,065.4 MW. "Most of this capacity comes from rooftop photovoltaics and around 146 MW from YEKA tenders," said Erlian Engur, a member of the board of directors of the Turkish Photovoltaic Association, Energy Storage Committee, Gund.

By 2020, the newly installed photovoltaic power generation capacity will reach 672 megawatts, and in 2019, the total newly added photovoltaic power generation capacity will reach 932 megawatts.

Currently, self-use and net metering rooftop photovoltaics are driving the Turkish photovoltaic market. Turkey launched a net meter in May 2020, and the market's response is to start to abandon the traditionally dominant megawatt-level project.

The "Solar Roadmap" report released by the Turkish Photovoltaic Association in 2019 predicts that the country will install 38 GW of solar energy by 2030.
