According to reports, Hawaiian Electric Company Inc. said earlier this week that the Hawaiian Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has approved the construction of a 15MW house solar panel solar power project on Maui, which will also be equipped with 60MW Energy storage.

The plan is called the Paeahu Solar Project, which is located in South Maui, Hawaii. It is currently being developed by Innergex Renewable Energy Company (TSE:INE) in Canada. The power plant will be put into use in 2023 and will generate enough electricity to supply about 6,900 local households.

According to a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) signed by the Hawaiian Electric Company, the Hawaiian Electric Company will purchase the park’s electricity at a price of 0.12 U.S. dollars (0.10 Euro) per kilowatt hour. Due to the low price of solar power, when Paeahu’s solar system is fully online, the monthly electricity bill per resident of Maui can be reduced by $3.

The company also said that the 60-megawatt AES Kuihelani solar project with 240 milliwatts of installed capacity in central Maui was also approved. There are also two other projects on Maui, one is led by Longroad Development, and the other is led by Innergex, which is currently under review.
