In 2021, Switzerland will provide a total of 470 million Swiss francs (512 million US dollars) to promote the construction of off grid photovoltaic system photovoltaic power plants. According to the Swiss Federal Energy Agency (SFOE), this will make the “waiting list for one-off payments for photovoltaic systems” eliminated for the first time since 2008.

In March 2020, a payment confirmation from a small photovoltaic power plant (KLEIV) will be received before the end of the year; the total amount paid will be 130 million Swiss francs.

In 2021, KLEIV will receive 270 million Swiss francs. Since February 2020, the waiting list for one-off payments for large photovoltaic systems (GREIV) has been reduced. GREIV's 2020 funding amount is approximately 257 million Swiss francs. This year, about 2,400 systems with a capacity of 713 MW will receive funding commitments.

By 2021, approximately 200 million Swiss francs will be available for GREIV. In 2020, the feed-in tariff system (KEV) includes 147 photovoltaic systems with a capacity of more than 100 kW (41 MW in total). These are installations registered before June 30, 2012. Since that date, there have not been any new installations in this support system.

By 2020, approximately 22,400 new renewable energy power generation systems will be subsidized. This means that there are currently more than 85,000 subsidy systems in operation, accounting for nearly 9% of Swiss electricity consumption.

Since January 2018, Swiss consumers have to pay a grid surcharge of 0.023 Swiss francs per kilowatt-hour to fund electricity generated by renewable energy, power efficiency measures and water pollution control measures.
