Pakistan plans to increase the share of renewable electricity to 30% by 2030

    According to Reuters, the Pakistani government recently announced that it plans to increase the proportion of renewable sources of electricity from the current 4% to 30% by 2030.

    Syed Aqeel Hussain Jafry, Policy Director of the Alternative Energy Development Committee of the Government of Pakistan, said: “The goals of the new plan will be implemented in phases. By 2025, the proportion of
solar battery storage system cost renewable energy in Pakistan’s installed power generation capacity will reach 20%. Development areas will include wind, solar, Geothermal, tidal energy, wave energy and biomass energy."

    According to Nadeem Babar, Chairman of the Pakistan Energy Reform Working Group, there are currently more than 30 wind and solar power plants in operation in Pakistan, and it is expected that more private investors will invest in this field in the future. "Existing renewable energy power projects are all financed by local and international banks, multilateral institutions and export credit agencies. In the future, new projects will also receive funding in the same way."

    Zeeshan Ashfaq, a Pakistani solar and wind energy developer, predicts that by 2030, international investors may invest as much as US$15 billion in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector.

Solar Power System With Battery


    According to NadeemBabar, with the increase of hydroelectric power generation capacity, by 2030, the proportion of clean energy power generation in Pakistan's power structure will reach 65%.
