The Green Innovation Development Center and the Vietnam Renewable Energy Association jointly held a video symposium on "FIT 2 and Vietnam's solar panel size and cost Power Generation Development Mechanism and Policies after 2020" in Hanoi.
Wei Shiqing, director of the Green Innovation Development Center, said that the purpose of this symposium was to discuss the significance of the solar power incentive mechanism in the development of Vietnam's solar power industry; the advantages and limitations of Decision No. 13 on the incentive mechanism for solar power development in Vietnam Wait for analysis. At the same time, put forward measures to promote the development of the solar power industry and fully exploit its potential and value after December 2020.
Two years after the implementation of Decision No. 11 on the incentive mechanism for the development of solar power generation in Vietnam issued by the Prime Minister of the Government, Vietnam's solar power industry has achieved new breakthroughs in development, turning Vietnam into the largest solar power market in Southeast Asia. As of the end of June 2019, various solar power plants in Vietnam had generated 4,464 MW. Statistics from the Vietnam Power Group show that as of the end of February 2020, rooftop solar projects have generated 24,459 megawatts of electricity. Among them, industrial electricity accounted for 54% of the rooftop solar power generation; followed by household electricity, accounting for 29%; trade electricity accounted for 12%; public sector administration accounted for 5%.
In order to promote the development of the solar power industry, the participating experts and business representatives believe that it is necessary to provide more time for the rooftop solar power generation field and formulate a specific development roadmap for it. In addition, the participants also put forward some measures to postpone the rooftop solar power generation support policy to fully realize the potential of the solar power generation field. Furthermore, it ensures the practical significance and positive impact of this policy on the health and long-term development of Vietnam's solar power industry.
