On June 8, the Cerro Dominador solar-thermal photovoltaic integrated power generation Solar Energy House facility in the Atacama Desert in the Antofagasta region of Chile was officially opened, marking that the facility will be officially put into use. Chilean President Sebastian Pigne Sebastian Pinera attended the ceremony.

As the first CSP project in Latin America, the Chile Cerro Dominador tower solar thermal power generation project with an installed capacity of 110MW has a heat storage time of 17.5 hours and is equipped with 10,600 heliostats of 140 square meters and a heat absorption tower of 250 meters. With the heat storage system, the project can achieve 24-hour continuous power generation, which can provide power to approximately 380,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 640,000 tons per year. Combined with adjacent photovoltaic power stations, the Cerro Dominador solar integrated power generation facility has a total installed capacity of 210MW, including a photovoltaic power station with an installed capacity of 100MW and a solar thermal power station with an installed capacity of 110MW and a heat storage period of 17.5 hours, consisting of Acciona and Abengoa Consortium construction. By effectively combining photovoltaics and solar heat, the facility solves the intermittent problems of other unconventional renewable energy sources, making the management of this power system simpler and more proactive.
