The grid connection of the Permian Energy Center brings Ørsted's onshore installed capacity to 2.1GW. The project and its 420MW solar photovoltaic power generation and 40MW battery energy storage facilities are located on 3,600 acres of land next to an active oil and gas facility, and will meet the growing power demand in West Texas.

Ørsted said that it is one of the first developers to have a full range of renewable energy technologies on a utility scale in the United States, covering onshore and offshore wind power, solar photovoltaic and energy storage. More technical or financial details about the project have not yet been announced. From 2020 to 2022, Texas solar installed capacity will continue to grow, accounting for the largest part of the new capacity. According to the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA), during this period, nearly half of the new capacity will be solar power, surpassing wind power (35%) and natural gas (13%).

Factors that promote solar investment in Texas include lower solar technology costs and sufficient light conditions-especially in the Permian Basin of West Texas, where approximately 30% of the planned solar energy production capacity will be deployed. over there.
