Morocco intends to achieve 2030 renewable energy target 5 years ahead of schedul

    To this end, the new Moroccan government has raised the goal of renewable energy development, that is, to achieve the goal of achieving more than 52% of the country's energy structure from renewable energy by 2025, five years earlier than before.

    According to the preliminary forecast by the Moroccan State Water Conservancy and Electricity Agency (ONEE) according to the relevant projects that have been launched or are being implemented, the proportion of renewable energy in Morocco’s national electricity will reach 42% in 2022, 52% in 2025, and 64.3 in 2030. %. It can be said that from 2025, renewable energy will surpass traditional fossil energy and become the first source of electricity production in Morocco. In addition, the Moroccan government also raised the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 from 42% to 45.5%.
