Prior to 2012, the European Union's e-waste regulations did not include complete solar power kits in the management category, mainly to prevent additional burdens on the promotion of new energy technologies, but mainstream complete solar power kits companies have already initiated voluntary recycling operations. In 2011, the EU's PV cycle recycling program recycled more than 1,400 tons of complete solar power kits with a recovery rate close to 70%. In 2012, the European Union incorporated complete solar power kits into the European Union's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) catalogue. According to the requirements of the directive, the recycling rate of electronic products needs to reach more than 85% before 2019, and the recycling rate of stand alone solar system materials should reach 80% or more.
So far, the global construction of stand alone solar system recycling facilities is still in its infancy, and a reasonable spatial layout can further reduce the recycling cost of stand alone solar system materials and improve the efficiency of recycling.
