Colombia is planning to build a 18.38GW clean energy power generation portfolio, of which solar projects will account for 9.48GW, hydropower projects 4.45GW, wind power projects 2.55GW, biomass projects 2MW, in addition will include 1.9GW thermal power projects to generate electricity through temperature differences.

Among the photovoltaic power generation projects, there are 159 projects with installed capacity of less than 1MW, 59 projects with 1-10MW, and 27 projects with more than 100MW.

The Clean Energy Report shows that Valle del Cauca has 46 photovoltaic projects in the southwest of the country.

As of the end of May, the installed capacity of the proposed solar project of the Clean Energy Registry has reached 3.55GW, including 700MW and 300MW facilities. At the time, the list also included five 200MW installed photovoltaic projects and facilities with 181.2MW, 120MW and 102MW respectively, as well as three 100MW and three 99MW assets.
