Israel plans to add another 15GW of solar energy by 2030

    Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz announced a new plan this week that will increase about 15GW of solar power capacity to help the country's renewable home solar power system kit energy target increase from 17% to 30% by 2030.

     Steinitz said in an official statement: "In the next ten years, the construction scale of solar energy and power storage facilities will be equivalent to all existing power facilities in the country." He predicts that by 2030, renewable energy will meet the country's contract. 80% of the electricity demand, while natural gas will cover the rest, coal will be gradually phased out. Steinitz added that this change will be driven by the private sector and it is expected that the investment in clean energy will reach about 80 billion Israeli new shekels, or about $23 billion.
