Recently, the German Energy Transformation Think Tank Energy Transformation Rally (AgoraEnergiewende) and the British Climate Change Organization Sandbag jointly released the "European Power Sector 2019" report (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), stating that in 2019, European wind off grid solar energy provided more electricity than coal for the first time. In just one year, the EU's coal power generation fell by 24%, and EU countries have proposed plans to phase out coal.

According to the report, from a country perspective, Malta has the highest percentage of solar power generation at 9%; Germany, Greece and Italy all have 8%. In addition, the Netherlands has the largest increase in solar power generation, adding 300 million kWh in 2019; followed by Spain (210 million kWh) and France (170 million kWh). These three countries accounted for 54% of the increase in EU solar power generation.

Prior to the transformation, Malta Energy had a complex staffing structure, most of the units were outdated, and the power infrastructure was weak. Before 2015, users in the country had an average annual power outage of nearly 10 hours. After more than 4 years of hard operation and integration and transformation of Shanghai Power, the non-technical line loss of Malta Power has been reduced from 14% to 4.7%, the reliability of the power grid has been increased to 99.95%, and the average annual outage time of users has been reduced to less than 15 minutes. , Safety, reliability, and economy have been greatly improved.

By optimizing the energy structure, the government of Malta has fulfilled its election promise to reduce residential and commercial electricity prices by 25%, which also allowed Malta's national sovereign credit rating to be upgraded to "A +" for the first time in 20 years, which has significantly improved the country's overall investment environment.
