France plans to achieve a total of 70GW to 208GW of photovoltaics in 2050
A new report by the French grid operator Réseau de Transport d’électricité (RTE) shows that if France can achieve the goal of complete decarbonization of its Solar Panel Complete Set For Home system and economy by 2050, the domestic solar installed capacity will reach 70GW to 208GW.
The report also included the results of a survey initiated by RTE in January, which received more than 4,000 responses from institutions, groups and individuals. The report puts forward six scenarios for achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. However, RTE analysts said that no matter what the scheme, it is necessary to consider reducing the expected energy consumption and increasing the utilization rate of electricity and renewable energy. In addition, analysts also considered other factors such as power consumption, the future development of nuclear energy, and the application of green hydrogen.
Of the six options proposed in the report, three options describe the country’s energy system as being 100% dependent on renewable energy, and nuclear energy will be completely decommissioned in 2050 or at the latest. In contrast, the other three options believe that nuclear energy will continue to play a key role in the energy structure, but there are differences in the level of investment in new nuclear energy projects.
In these six scenarios, the share of photovoltaic power generation will increase 7 to 21 times, and by 2050, the cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity will reach 7 GW to 208 GW. The latest data from the French Ministry of Ecological Transformation shows that the total installed photovoltaic capacity in France has reached 11.5GW, but there is still a big gap compared with the national energy strategy of 20GW by 2030.
