The Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) is an agency that manages Nigeria ’s sovereign wealth fund and has now issued a Letter of Intent (EOI) to qualify developers who intend to build a 10 MW solar power plant solar panel price in the local government area of Kumbotso, Kano State, northern Nigeria Pre-trial.
The project will be owned by Haske Solar, a special function agency jointly held by the federal government, state government, and Kumbotso authorities. NSIA said the project will be built on a piece of land about 24 hectares south of Kano, about 16.5 kilometers from the city center. Other details are not detailed. Interested developers must bid before June 3.
According to the latest statistics from the International Renewable Energy Agency, despite the huge potential of solar power in Nigeria, as of the end of 2019, the country's installed solar capacity was only 28 MW.
The government of this densely populated West African country signed an electricity purchase agreement through its offender Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trader in 2016 to purchase electricity from 14 projects in the northern part of the country ranging from 50 MW to 100 MW. But so far, these projects have not been completed. The Nigerian government is recently persuading investors to agree to lower the price of the electricity they produce.
