According to the report of the Energy Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, renewable Solar System Panel For Home energy in Vietnam may continue to decrease in the next five years.

According to the report, as of the end of 2020, Vietnam’s total installed power capacity is about 69 GW (including rooftop solar); of which, coal-fired power generation is about 21 GW, hydropower is about 21 GW, and solar power (including rooftop solar) is installed. About 17 GW, with wind, biomass and imported electricity under 1 GW each.

During the period from 2011 to 2020, the total installed power capacity increased by an average of 12.9% annually. Among them, coal-fired power generation grew the fastest at 18%, followed by hydropower with an average annual growth of 9.2%. Renewable energy sources (wind and solar) account for nearly 26% of total installed electricity capacity. Gas and oil power generation has barely developed.

The total approved renewable energy capacity by 2025 is around 25,500 MW (excluding rooftop solar projects). As such, there are still 5,000 MW of solar and 6,144 MW of wind that have been approved but not yet commissioned in 2021.

By the end of 2021, the total installed capacity of wind power can be increased by 5,400 MW, the installed capacity of solar power generation can be increased by 300 MW, and coal-fired power generation can be increased by 3,000 MW. By the end of 2021, the country's total installed power capacity will be about 80 GW. Of this, wind and solar (including rooftop solar) accounted for 7% and 22% of the total installed electricity capacity, respectively.

The construction of renewable energy such as solar energy has a short investment time, has the characteristics of intermittent, unstable, weather-dependent, and weak contribution to the system inertia, which makes the power system face more and more severe challenges in peak regulation and frequency regulation. Therefore, the leap-forward development of this type of power supply in recent years has led to problems such as full load, partial overload, and reduced system inertia in the operation of the power system. In 2020, about 364 million kWh of untapped solar power was generated.

According to the Vietnam Electricity Group forecast, in 2021, the untapped electricity of renewable energy will increase to about 1.68 billion kWh.

According to the report, it is expected that in the last six months of 2021, the renewable energy generation that can be developed and utilized will be reduced by 1.7 billion kWh. For July-September 2021, power generation was reduced by 2,800 to 6,500 MW. From October to December, power generation was reduced by 7,500 to 11,500 megawatts.
