Turkey will become the fourth largest photovoltaic market in Europe
Turkey has abundant light resources and is one of the fastest growing photovoltaic markets in the world. In recent years, government policies have stimulated the demand for electricity and the cost of solar system price in Turkey has gradually decreased. Turkey began to vigorously promote the development of renewable energy in December 2014. It will achieve the target of 30% of renewable energy power generation by 2023, and plans to add 10GW of photovoltaic installations between 2020 and 2030.
Renewable energy projects in Turkey are divided into unauthorized projects and authorized projects. Unauthorized projects are limited to small projects with a size of less than 1MW. Investors only need to submit application documents to power companies and pass them to obtain installation qualifications. The ratio is nearly 99%; the authorized project has a capacity of more than 1MW, and its administrative procedures, environmental assessment, and submission for review are relatively long and tedious.
It is reported that the Turkish Energy Agency has recently adjusted its photovoltaic policy to adjust the project's certified capacity requirements from the original 1MW to 5MW, which means that photovoltaic projects below 5MW will not need to apply for a license and will greatly stimulate the development and installation speed of small projects.
