The local government of Lombardy in northern Italy has allocated 10 million euros to subsidize solar system with batteries+ energy storage systems.

In Lombardy, buyers who purchase solar energy + energy storage systems can apply for a 50% subsidy on the purchase price. If they simply purchase a storage system (as a supporting facility for a solar power station), they can apply for a 100% subsidy on the purchase price. It is reported that each applicant can receive a maximum of 100,000 euros in subsidies.

Lombardy is the richest and most developed region in Italy's 20 regions and the leading industrial and commercial area. It covers an area of 7.9% of the country, a population of 15.8%, and a total GDP of 25% of the country.

Since 2016, in order to promote the development of the photovoltaic + energy storage model, the Lombardy government has started to provide subsidies for residential and commercial energy storage systems. The subsidy budget for the year was 2 million euros. In 2017, the Lombardy local government launched Italy's first 4 million euro solar storage incentive plan.
