According to the latest data released this week by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), Germany deployed approximately 437 MW of new home solar panel kits photovoltaic capacity in June. The installed capacity dropped slightly from 446 MW in May, but the installed capacity in June was still higher than the total installed capacity from January to April.
In the first half of 2020, developers will connect 2.36GW of solar energy to the grid. In the same period last year, the newly added solar energy reached 2.02GW. If the current growth rate continues, this year's installed capacity is expected to exceed last year's total newly installed capacity of approximately 4GW.
As always, rooftop photovoltaics accounted for the largest share of deployments in June, at 336MW. The rooftop photovoltaic market is still supported by feed-in tariffs, but a spokesperson for the Bundestag said that due to the level of development in the past few months, FIT will be cut by 1.4% in August, September and October.
As of the end of June, Germany's cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity was 51.5 GW.
