The oil refinery Brod (RNB) has been suspended for two years. Its Russian owner plans to build home solar panel system four solar power plants on the basis of the refinery and has applied to the Republika Srpska Energy Management Committee for a renewable energy award.
Capital.ba learned that four solar power plants (RNB Solar 1, RNB Solar 2, RNB Solar 3 and RNB Solar 4) can be delivered and operated in early December. The average annual power generation capacity of these four facilities should be 2.8 million kilowatts. The installed capacity of RNB Solar 1, 3, and 4 are 238 kilowatts respectively, and the planned installed capacity of RNB Solar 2 is 239.4 kilowatts.
The Russian oil company Zarubezhneft is the major shareholder of the Republika Srpska Petroleum Consortium. The company also plans to produce natural gas and replace fuel oil with natural gas in order to reduce costs and reduce adverse environmental impacts. In addition, the company also announced the construction of natural gas power plants and expansion of the gas station network, while insisting that it will not lay off staff.
According to official reports, the RNB refinery has shortened by nearly 60 million euros in 2019. The latest statement from its owner stated that oil processing is scheduled to resume at the end of this year.
