Recently, Uzbekistan launched two invitations for quotation (RfQs). As part of the tender, Uzbekistan hopes to grant at least 600MW of off grid power systems price solar photovoltaic power generation capacity.
It is reported that the first bidding project includes two projects, each of which has a minimum capacity of 200MW and is located in the Katakurgan district of Samarkand and the Gallaorol district of Gizak, respectively. Through bidding, the government seeks to sign a contract with a private developer or consortium that will be responsible for the development, financing, construction, ownership, and operation of the solar park. The deadline for applying for eligibility is September 26, 2020.
Another bidding photovoltaic project is with the help of the Asian Development Bank, as part of Uzbekistan’s 1GW solar deployment plan, and another RfQ for a 200MW solar power project targeting Sherabad district in Surkandaria province. Invite the first item in the auction. August 25 is the deadline for bidding, and 54 bids have been attracted in the letter of intent phase.
The two projects are part of a larger project plan, which aims to deploy up to 900MW of solar photovoltaic power generation capacity through public-private partnership (ppp), and the tender is assisted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) under the World Bank ongoing. In March this year, 84 companies and consortia submitted letters of intent to participate in the bidding.
Uzbekistan’s goal is to increase the share of renewable energy installed capacity to 5GW within the next 10 years.
