India's solar power prices are expected to drop by 5-10% in the future
A recent study showed that due to the development of solar technology, India’s off grid solar batteries solar power prices will continue to fall at a rate of 5% to 10% per year in the next ten years, which in turn will increase the country’s competition with existing fossil fuel alternatives force.
Research by the Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) said: "We expect solar power prices to continue to fall by 5% to 10% in the next ten years, providing the world with the lowest cost source of energy production."
Regarding solar tariffs in other countries, the report added that countries in the Gulf region have set record low solar prices in recent years. However, this is unlikely to happen in India because the economic composition of each country plays a direct role.
The report stated that “the conditions that led to the reduction of solar power prices in the Gulf region cannot be replicated in the Indian market because most factors (such as low interest rates, zero taxes and low return on equity) are driven by the economic operations of different countries. ."
"If India imposes import tariffs on solar modules, the corresponding Indian solar cost will be further expanded. In fact, the price of solar power in India is almost twice that of the Gulf region.
Compared with India, the reasons behind such low electricity prices in the Gulf are: lower cost in US dollars, long-term financing, increased solar energy resources leading to higher capacity utilization, no corporate taxes or tariffs on equipment and electricity sales, solar projects The cost of land acquisition is even negligible.
