The Polish climate department stated that it is expected to sign 1.5GW of photovoltaic installations in the two energy auctions this year. On this basis, it plans to allocate 1.7GW of photovoltaic power generation capacity in the off grid solar setup renewable energy auction next year. The Polish government predicts that in this round of auctions in 2020, 800MW of photovoltaic power generation capacity will be used for projects with a scale of no more than 1MW, and 700MW of capacity will be used for large-scale photovoltaic power plants. According to government departments, next year these two types of auction capacity will receive 1GW and 700MW respectively.

Correspondent Piotr Pajk of Gramwzielone.pl mentioned that since Polish law requires wind power projects to be far away from residential areas, the energy auction plan will be more inclined to sign more photovoltaic power generation projects. "We can see that in 2020 and 2021, there will be a large number of photovoltaic power plants below 1MW. At the same time, we should also see that the first batch of large photovoltaic power plants will be awarded contracts in the first auction. Due to the reduced distance rules for wind power projects With the development of new wind power projects, we will see more and more large-scale photovoltaic power plants in Poland."

In the most recent (end of 2019) auction of small photovoltaic and wind power energy with a generating capacity of no more than 1MW, the photovoltaic developer won a big victory, gaining 750MW of new installed capacity. In contrast, wind energy dominated the last large-scale project auction, although photovoltaic projects made their debut after wind power monopolized the first auction of renewable energy above 1MW in November 2018. For details, see the victory in the first battle, 750MW photovoltaic power generation became the only winner of the Polish energy auction.

According to the energy auction plan, projects allocated for auction this year will sign a 15-year power supply agreement.

According to Poland's energy policy until 2040, the government expects that the photovoltaic power generation capacity will reach 20GW by 2040. At present, the most developed renewable energy technology in Poland is wind power, which is expected to reach 10GW by 2040.

Solar Pv Installation

According to data from the Polish power grid PSE, by August 1, 2020, the cumulative installed and grid-connected solar photovoltaic power generation in Poland reached 2261.347 MW. Among them, 809MW was newly added in the first six months of this year. More than 152MW of photovoltaics were installed in July, and the Polish Institute of Renewable Energy (IEO) stated that the country will reach a cumulative installed capacity of 2.5 GW by the end of 2020, and this figure is expected to increase to 7.8 GW by 2025. Achieve the goal of solar power generation capacity by 2030 set in the National Energy and Climate Plan five years in advance.
