According to data released by the American Association of Clean Energy (ACP) in its quarterly report, after the commissioning of 5,620 MW of capacity, the installed capacity in the second quarter increased by 13% year-on-year. The country added 2,226 megawatts of solar energy, 2,824 megawatts of wind energy, and 570 megawatts of battery storage capacity, marking quarter-on-quarter growth in each market segment.

The state with the most clean power installed capacity in the second quarter was Texas with 1,489MW of installed capacity. It is followed by California with 585 MW, Michigan with 424 MW, followed by Florida and Kansas with 373 MW and 301 MW respectively.

In the first six months of 2021, new clean power installations increased by 17% year-on-year to a record 9,915 megawatts. By mid-2021, the country has more than 180,216 megawatts of clean power capacity, enough to meet the needs of more than 50 million households.

"This growth and expansion is expected to continue, but we need government policymakers to make long-term decisions to ensure that we can continue to develop these critical projects," said Heather Zichal, CEO of ACP.

According to ACP, as of the end of June, the country had 906 clean energy projects under construction, totaling 37,725 megawatts, and about 64,172 megawatts were in the development stage.
