In July 2020, the installed capacity of solar energy devices solar photovoltaic power generation in Germany increased rapidly, and the total installed capacity this quarter was close to the 52GW predicted by the industry.

According to data from the regulatory agency Bnetza, the total new solar power generation capacity in July was 447.41MW. As of the end of this month, the German solar power generation capacity was 51.98GW.

After calling for support for the expansion of solar photovoltaics, the Lower House of Parliament and the Federal Council last month approved the cancellation of the 52GW subsidy ceiling for small-scale solar photovoltaic power generation.

But the renewable energy department warned that zoning restrictions pose a threat to solar expansion.

The lobby group BSW said today that the rate of expansion will exceed the overdue of the government's 2030 climate protection plan. BSW proposed to increase the current target of about 4GW/year to at least 10GW/year, and said that the "solar tax" should be abolished to support rooftop installation.

Germany's onshore wind power capacity expansion is still slow. The newly installed capacity in July was only 71.49MW, the lowest this year. As of the end of July, the total onshore wind power capacity was 54.9GW.

According to industry associations, Germany may install about 1.5GW of onshore wind power capacity this year-an increase of 50%, but still far below the required level of growth.

From January 1, the first batch of onshore wind farms will begin to withdraw from the EEG subsidy program.
