The solar power park plans to use the grid infrastructure of nearby coal-fired power plants to achieve grid connection. Polish oil group Orlen plans to have an installed capacity of 2 GW of Solar Energy Systems Kit renewable energy assets by 2030.

Orlen Group, a Polish refiner and gasoline retailer, plans to build a 100-megawatt solar power park in the depleted Adamów coal mine in the Polish commune of Pritzkera.

The PV Mitra photovoltaic power station is part of the company's planned renewable energy complex for the area and part of ORLEN's 2030 strategy, which aims to increase its total renewable energy generation capacity to 2 GW within ten years.

The oil company is currently applying for all relevant construction and grid connection permits and is expected to be approved by the end of this year. The solar power park is expected to be connected to the grid infrastructure of nearby coal-fired power plants and completed on Orlen Group’s own land, which will greatly reduce project costs. As of now, the company has not provided sales details about the electricity produced by the solar power park.

The Adamów Renewable Energy Complex already has a 30 MW wind power plant, which has been in operation since July this year. At the same time, the complex will also host another solar project with an installed capacity of 20 MW, PV Gryf.

Orlen currently owns and operates a total of 450 megawatts of clean energy assets, and its petroleum business covers Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, the Baltic States and Canada.
