Philippines completes 63MW solar project

    Recently, Modern Energy Management Company (MEM) completed a 63MWp solar project in the Philippines for AC Solar Power Generator Energy. The project is located in the Luzon region of the Philippines and has been exporting electricity to the grid since April 25, 2021. MEM provides engineering, design and construction services together with its Philippine partner Sidcore Consulting.

    Overall, AC Energy plans to install half of its 5GW renewable energy capacity target in the Philippines. The remaining capacity will be launched in other unidentified Southeast Asian countries. To date, the company said it has installed more than 1.2 GW of projects in the Philippines.

    In August last year, the company announced that it was building two new solar power plants with a capacity of up to 150 megawatts in central Luzon, of which the GigaSol project was part of it. The company said that a total of 330 MW of solar power plants are under construction in the country.

    According to statistics released by the Department of Energy in December, as of the end of June 2020, the Philippines’ installed photovoltaic capacity under the country’s renewable energy law was 1.06 GW. The Philippine government plans to install 15 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Currently, the 200MW Tarlac solar power plant is the largest photovoltaic facility in the country.
