Romania provides $59 million in subsidies for rooftop solar projects
Recently, the Romanian National Environmental Protection Fund’s Environmental Fund Administration (AFM) revealed that it has approved 12,718 applications for the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice (green photovoltaic home) program to support residential solar solar system price for house installations under the country’s net metering system.
The agency said that the first round of subsidy program will provide a total of 252 million RON (about 59 million US dollars) of funds, the project's total budget is 536 million RON, the Romanian government first launched the tax refund plan in August 2018, the plan Funded by the European Union.
Andreea Kohalmi Szabo, President of the Romanian Environmental Fund Administration (AFM), said: "We plan to sign contracts with the first batch of beneficiaries in the next few days, and a new round of budget will be launched in the (autumn)." There will be major changes aimed at simplifying the application process, shortening the evaluation time, and expanding the list of certified solar equipment installers.
AFM will provide subsidies for rooftop photovoltaic projects larger than 3kW, and will pay 90% of the cost of purchasing and installing rooftop photovoltaic systems, with the subsidy amount not exceeding 20,000RON.
This month, the approved net metering regulations also include financial incentives for 27kW photovoltaic system owners. Moreover, according to the plan, the owner of a renewable energy system with a capacity of 100kW has the right to sell the remaining power to four power distributors in the country, namely Enel, CEZ, E.On and Electrica. The Energy Administration (ANRE) is based on the specific situation of the distributor.
