According to relevant data from the Central Electricity Authority of India, India has achieved 100GW of installed 10Kw Solar System Off Grid renewable energy (RE) capacity (except for large-scale water conservancy projects). In the installed 100GW renewable energy capacity, solar energy accounts for about 44% and wind energy accounts for 40%.

According to information released by the Ministry of New Energy and Renewable Energy, from a global perspective, India's installed renewable energy ranks fourth, solar energy ranks fifth, and wind energy ranks fourth. The installed renewable energy portfolio includes solar energy, wind energy, small water conservancy projects (≤25MW), biomass, urban and industrial waste energy. If large-scale water conservancy projects are included, the installed renewable energy capacity will increase to 146GW.

According to information released by the government, in addition to the installed capacity of 100GW, there are also 50GW of renewable energy capacity under construction, and 27GW in the bidding stage. According to data from the Central Power Administration, approximately 44GW of solar energy (as of July 31, 2021) accounts for 44% of India's installed renewable energy capacity, and wind energy capacity is close to 40GW.

India has set the ambitious goal of reaching 175 GW by 2022 and 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Achieving 100GW of renewable energy installed capacity is a major milestone in India's progress towards achieving the 450GW target by 2030.
